It’s no secret that Miami and the surrounding area has a sizzling hot real estate market. From residential high rises to office space to retail, projects are popping up all over the place. Venture was happy to be brought in by Brand Atlantic Real Estate Partners to help supply some natural stone for the lobby fit out and exterior. With Spina O’Rourke + Partners leading the designs and Certified Finishes handling the installation, Venture worked hand in hand with all parties, from design to installation, working to ensure a seamless workflow and final product.

Selection and Procurement
With over 2,500 SF of coverage required, Venture’s task was to locate a stone with the right look that could help to control costs and keep the project’s budget under control while meeting the aesthetic requirements from the design team. Large format sizes of 48”x48” and 24”x48” were specified on the walls in a pattern with brass inserts, so we knew that the selection and culling would be key in getting the final product correct.

Final Specification
We settled on a selection of a marble called Eurasian Wood, quarried in the mountains of Vietnam. Over 100 slabs were required, with only the most attractive areas to be used for this job. A mark up from design selected the softer horizontal movement of the veining, eliminating inclusions, cross veins, and other aesthetic issues while our QC team culled out inherent cracks, unsound pieces, etc.

Shop Drawings
Our drafting department worked with Certified Finishes on the shop drawings, who had high levels of professionalism and attention to detail. Venture’s shop tickets and final layouts were submitted for approval. Working through a few revisions we came to the final layout together, and these were passed on to our factory for selection, cutting, dry lay, and packing.

Dry Lay
Each piece in each elevation was carefully laid down, photographed, and sent for approval to Brand Atlantic, Spina O’Roruke, and the associated contractors. This process allows us to fully express the natural variation of marble and not have there be an surprise once the material arrives. Any pieces that were flagged by design were culled and replaced, with new photos taken for approval.
Each piece was labeled with a unique number which matched layout drawings.

Installation
As each piece was already dry laid, labeled, and approved, the installation crew had little to worry about in terms of the aesthetic look of the marble. They were able to focus on the physical aspect of hanging the stone on the walls without needing to second guess which pieces go where. The level of service and attention to detail that Venture provided earlier in the process made everyone’s jobs easier when it was time to install.

Final Product
After addressing a few minor on site issues, Certified Finishes installed the marble as planned in the main lobby and 7th floor elevator corridors, smoothly moving forward with the clear plan and selection from our work earlier in the project.
Now completed, these marble walls stand firm as a testament to understated beauty, stylish design, workmanship, and most importantly, a well-executed game plan.
